The personal and business papers of Sir William Mackinnon (1823-1893) reflect his wide commercial interests and his close connection with 19th century British political circles. The microfilm includes the papers of the Imperial British East Africa Company, the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition Committee, the British India Steam Navigation Company and  those relating to the City of Glasgow Bank.

This is a collection of over 560,000 photographs produced between  1850 and 1976, as an inventory of approx. 120,000 examples of architecture and the fine arts of Germany as of 1937. It includes art of  foreign origin collected in Germany. Architecture includes castles, cathedrals, sports stadia, factories, villas, avenues, squares and rail stations etc. Fine arts also includes furniture, textiles, jewellery, coins, lamps, tools, technical apparatus, model ships ie “material products created by the human hand”.

Mazarinades were pamphlets published between the years 1649 and 1652. They were written largely as an expression, often violent,  of the public displeasure with Cardinal Mazarin. They were equally a gauge to the sentiments of royalists and, more importantly, they reflected the temper of an age in
transition between monarchy of Louis XIII and the coming to power of Louis XIV. A large majority of the pamphlets questioned the King's authority and ranged from anarchy and sedition to complaints that upheld the King but questioned his ministers' and favourites' claim to be above the law.

The papers of William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne, consist of Lord Melbourne's political correspondence during his terms of office as Principal Secretary of State 1830-1834 and as Prime Minister July-December 1834 and April 1835- September 1841. The correspondence is of great interest for the light it sheds on a period of important political change following the first Reform Act of 1832 and on the early years of reign of Queen Victoria.
