EP.
276 reels of microfilm.

The collection consists of 541 volumes of manuscript letters and miscellaneous material formerly the property of the Old Pretender, Prince James Francis Edward Stuart and of his sons, Prince Charles Edward Stuart, the Young Pretender, and Prince Henry Benedict, Cardinal Duke of York.
There are letters from Stuart followers and dependants asking for assistance, also letters of intelligence from the Continent in addition to warrants, commissions and letters patent.
Many of the letters are in cipher, some being numerical but the majority based upon the use of feigned names. A large number of the papers of the later period are of purely domestic nature, and relate exclusively to the Cardinal Duke of York and his affairs in Rome and the Vatican.
