John Denham, the secretary for innovation, universities and skills has warned that, by 2014, Britain will suffer from a potential shortfall of 2 million workers in key industries if skills gaps in the workforce are not addressed. 200m will be set aside by the government to fund training facilities in the areas of finance, construction, science, engineering and IT over the next three years.
