Children and Young People Now, Oct. 30th- Nov. 5th 2008, p. 26-27
Introduces a scheme run by Birmingham City Council to train young disabled teenagers to use public transport independently. The training raises the young people's self-esteem and enables them to access community facilities. It has also saved the Council £70,000 since it started in 2006 because public transport is cheaper than use of a minibus for home to school transport.
