The UK government has shown an interest in intergenerational projects as a tool for improving community cohesion, tackling various social problems such as reducing adults' fear of 'teenagers hanging around', or improving young people's educational attainment. However there is a dearth of recent research evidence about 'what works' with intergenerational projects which needs to be addressed if pitfalls are to be avoided.
