Social inequalities in facing old-age dependency: a bi-generational perspective

This article analyses how the demands of caring for a frail elderly person impact differently on children's resources and life chances not only across gender, but also across social classes, strengthening pre-existing inequalities and/or creating new ones. Welfare state arrangements are a crucial dimension in these processes.
