EU spends £1 billion on eurocrat pensions

Research carried out by the Daily Telegraph shows that in 2010, the EU will spend almost £1bn on pensions for its officials, giving the average retired eurocrat an income of almost £60,000. British taxpayers will contribute £135m to the scheme, at a time when many people in the UK in both the public and private sectors face cuts to their pension schemes.
