This article gives an account of the evolution of Sweden's Institute for Evidence-Based Social Work Practice and its mission to pull social work practice out of the world of opinions and untested knowledge and into the world of evidence and awareness of 'what works' in social work interventions. The article presents the history, organisation and products of the Institute, and concludes with comments on future opportunities and challenges.
