BYERS TO URGE NEW MINIMUM WAGE MEASURE

Stephen Byers, trade and industry secretary, will tell the Low Pay Commission to include earnings growth in its assessment of the national minimum wage, alongside other factors such as inflation and employment. The decision may lead to a more generous increase in the minimum wage next year before the general election.
