Information technology could help adult social services departments cope with the severe financial and demographic pressures they face. This article looks at three computer systems: Its Assist, which helps clients manage their own care; predictive case finding technology, which would facilitate early intervention by identifying people at risk of needing residential care; and telehealth and telecare technology being piloted by Kent County Council.
