Proposals include a new system for reporting adverse incidents, performance appraisal for all doctors underpinned by revalidation, checking suitability of doctors at the appointment stage, the establishment of a National Clinical Assessment Authority to advise on sorting out poor peformance by doctors, and monitoring the quality of NHS Services through the Commission for Health Improvement.
