SOCIAL HOUSING AS A TRANSITIONAL TENURE?: REFLECTIONS ON THE NETHERLANDS NEW HOUSING MEMORANDUM 2000-2010

N. Priemus

Housing Studies, vol. 16, 2001, p. 243-256

Article discusses the Netherlands Draft Housing Memorandum which was published on 15th May 2000 and what this means for social housing. Housing corporations are being urged to sell off 500,000 dwellings in the next 10 years. The Netherlands has long been a dominant force of social rented housing, but its sell off would suggest that it is destined to marginalise the social rented sector in the long run.
