To replace mental hospitals destroyed in the 1992-1996 war in Bosnia, the World Bank provided funding for a network of community mental health centres across the country. Not all are operating successfully, but educational initiatives have been introduced to provide staff, including nurses and social workers, with the necessary training to work in the community setting.
