Quality in Ageing, vol. 3, Sept. 2002, p. 16-26
Article presents findings of a collaborative study of the experiences and support needs of carers whose relatives have gone into residential care. Drawing on data from carers' qualitative accounts, it considers their post-admission roles and responsibilities. Results show carers' on-going needs for emotional support to help them address their guilt and work through their intra-personal struggles. Development of such services should be a priority across all sectors.
