Study examines the impact of the national minimum wage on pay and conditions in the apparel industry in the East Midlands and Northern Ireland. At the local level it impacted directly on the pay of employees in larger units facing foreign competition and selling into the domestic market. In some workplaces the NMW also adversely impacted on the piecework system.
