Community Care, Feb. 6th-12th 2003, p.36-38
A recent survey of home care providers revealed widespread opposition to highly prescriptive care management. Consequently greater autonomy for care providers has been developing. Home care providers also commented on differences in the help commissioned for older people and disabled adults under 65. Some convergence between pay and conditions between in-house and independent providers was discovered. Both in-house and independent providers were showing interest in moving from general home care towards specialist, high skill roles, such as terminal care and post-hospital care.
