TEACHERS TO GET £100,00 LOANS TO BUY NEW HOMES IN CAPITAL

S. Cassidy

The Independent, 22nd October 2003, p.9

Some teachers are to receive loans of up to £100,000 to help them buy family homes in London and stop the haemorrhage of experienced staff from the capital's schools. The "golden handcuffs" scheme will be directed at "school leaders of the future" who would otherwise have to move out of London. The scheme is part of a £5bn package of housing assistance for public sector workers announced yesterday by John Prescott, the Deputy Prime Minister.
