TIME BANKS: REWARDING COMMUNITY SELF-HELP IN THE INNER CITY?

Paper examines the origins, development, achievements and potential of time banks. These are community-based mutual volunteering schemes whereby participants give and receive services in exchange for time credits. Article presents a case study of an inner city time bank in Glasgow to assess their role and potential for promoting community development and overcoming social exclusion.
