Government has encouraged councils to transfer their housing stock to registered social landlords to facilitate new investment in refurbishment. However the Inland Revenue is no longer allowing money spent on repairs to be offset against corporation tax assessments. This increase in corporation tax will reduce investment in repair of social housing.
