Dementia, vol.3, 2004, p.195-210
The article examines the grief and depression experienced by caregivers in the early, middle and late stages of dementia. Although symptoms were reported across all three groups, those caring for those in the late stage of dementia had many more symptoms than those in the early or middle stages. However, emotional demands varied as the disease progressed and it is important to facilitate grieving at each stage.
