Welfare Reform on the Web (March 2005): Homelessness - Overseas

BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN SLUMS: A GEOGRAPHY OF PATHWAYS THROUGH HOMELESSNESS

H. Meert and M. Bourgeois

Housing Studies, vol.20, 2005, p.107-125

Paper discusses pathways through homelessness of households living in holiday parks in Southern Belgium. Households appear to be caught in a vicious circle of moves between urban and rural insecure accommodation. Immediate triggers of moves to holiday parks include relationship breakdown, eviction and high rent burdens.
