The large-scale implementation of service innovations that have proved effective in pilot projects is not straightforward. Study examines the facilitating and impeding factors in the adaptive implementation of a meeting centres programme in the Netherlands aimed at supporting people with dementia and their carers. Facilitating factors at all stages of implementation included motivated people, financial resources, continuous public relations activities, and inter-agency co-operation.
