SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS: DEFINITIONS OF DISABILITY IN SOCIAL POLICY AND WELFARE LAW IN EUROPE

D.H. Mabbett

Journal of Social Policy, vol. 34, 2005, p.215 - 233

This paper argues that successful equality policy for disabled people cannot simply be founded on non-discrimination principles. Illustrates the successes and failures of varied approaches to seeking equality, by drawing from work and policies of differing European policy spheres, their conceptions of equality and problems in defining disability.
