The majority of EU member states have a statutory minimum wage, while in many other countries collective bargaining at sectoral level sets binding minimum rates of pay. Article presents the results of a survey of European minimum wage systems. It includes a table with the statutory minimum rates in force and gives examples of minimum rates contained in sectoral collective agreements.
