A Liberal Democrat amendment to the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Bill would compel direct payments recipients to check employees against the vetting and barring list the Bill proposes to introduce for people working with vulnerable adults. There are concerns that this will compromise service users’ independence, dignity and choice.
Basingstoke: Palgrave, 2006The book traces the development of community care, setting it in the context of services and practice in public agencies including health and social care. It assesses the impact of care management on the practice of social work, and emphasises the importance of a real understanding of the legislative framework which shapes community care policy today. This new edition of the text brings it fully up to date by incorporating the latest policy and practice issues in community care as well as recent developments in social work education.
