Striking a balance

Owner occupiers can lose out in housing regeneration schemes if the price the council pays them for their property is insufficient to buy a new home on the refurbished estates. They may have no choice but to move to a cheaper area. This article discusses ways in which home owners displaced in regeneration schemes can be helped. Options include: shared ownership and shared equity schemes, remortgaging, and reverting to renting from the council.
