Celebrating Black History Month

The British Library brings together an exciting and varied events programme to mark Black History Month 2012. This international line-up includes an evening of poetry and music to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence, the only solo London appearance of influential American spoken-word artist Amiri Baraka, formerly known as LeRoi Jones, and an investigation of the black presence in 16th-century Britain.
