The music collections at the British Library are unparalleled in their scope and diversity. Several million items of printed music and sound recordings across all genres sit alongside original manuscripts from Purcell to Panufnik, Monteverdi to Maxwell Davies, providing a wealth of material to aid and inspire researchers and performers.

Our Doctoral Open Days are a chance for new PhD students to discover the Library’s unique research materials. At this free event you will learn about our music collections, find out how to access them, and meet our expert staff and other researchers in your field. This event is aimed at new PhD students, including Masters students who are planning to continue their research at doctoral level. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Please only book on a single event, using the Book Now link above, and contact us if you are unable to attend – these events are very popular.

To make the most of your day, you may wish to get a free Reader Pass before the event.
