Dr Melanie Joy challenges the carnivore lifestyle and proves that it is only a habit and a choice. She has been instrumental in converting many people worldwide to change to a vegetarian or even a vegan lifestyle by highlighting the bias we have towards different animals.
Carnism is the invisible belief system, or ideology, that conditions people to eat certain animals. Carnism is essentially the opposite of veganism; “carn” means “flesh” or “of the flesh” and “ism” denotes a belief system.
This lecture is expected to arouse a debate and time will be allocated for questions and answers after her delivery.
Dr Melanie Joy Ph.D., Ed.M. is the Founder and President of Carnism Awareness and Action Network [CAAN] and author of Why we Love Dogs Eat Pigs and Wear Cows
It is expected that some other speakers will also be present and amongst them a Jain scholar will expound on the Jain philosophy of non-violence and diet.
The lecture is open to public, without any admission fee. However due to limited number of seats in the auditorium, invitation cards will be issued on a first-come first-served basis.
