The British Library has an enormous collection of Sound Recordings including 240,000 vinyl LPs. Andy Linehan, the Library’s Curator of Popular Music, looks at the history of the album and digs into the archive to bring out a selection of LPs that reflect the styles and genres of music and the artwork that emerged in the vinyl era.
Despite the advent of digital recording these vinyl discs and their equally fascinating covers retain the power to inspire those in the creative industries, from artists to film makers, musicians and graphic designers.
This event is a part of our Inspired by…series aimed at showcasing collections for practitioners in fashion, film and design. To find out more about events and resources for the creative industries follow our Inspired by blog and @BL_Creative on Twitter.
