Both Nam Le and Sebastian Faulks have been praised for the worlds they create in their storytelling. Here they will talk to Folio Prize shortlisted author Amity Gaige, and fellow Academician, James Walton, about the power of place in fiction writing. Amity Gaige’s Schroder is a lyrical and deeply affecting novel recounting the seven days a father spends on the road with his daughter. Nam Le’s The Boat was shortlisted for six major prizes and won the 2008 Dylan Thomas Prize and the Pen/Malamud Award. Sebastian Faulks has been described as ‘one of the most impressive novelists of his generation’, and his bestselling Birdsong featured in a recent BBC list of Britain’s best loved novels. James Walton is a writer and critic and is the writer and presenter of Radio 4's books quiz, The Write Stuff.
A book signing by the participants will take place in the British Library Entrance Hall after the event.
