Luchino Visconti, Theatre and Opera: a Legacy
This year’s ISLG lecture will be given by Gaia Servadio, the distinguished writer and broadcaster. Gaia Servadio’s writings are wide ranging: as well as works of fiction she has published many books, on subjects including archaeology, history, politics and social studies, literature, music and the theatre, and she is also well-known as a journalist. Her twenty-eighth book, the autobiographical Raccogliamo le vele (Feltrinelli), was published earlier this year.
Gaia Servadio’s biography of Luchino Visconti is one of her best-known works. Visconti, a famous film director was also an innovative and, at times, controversial theatre and opera director. It is this aspect of his career that this lecture, which will be richly illustrated, will examine.
Wine and light refreshments will be served after the lecture.
Attendance is free but registration is required.
