Britain and Russia in the Great War: Centenary Reflections

This workshop, organised in association with the Anglo-Russian Research Network, marks the UK-Russian Year of Culture in 2014, the centenary of Britain’s formal alliance with Russia during the Great War. Academics and curators explore the relationship by comparing British and Russian cultural, diplomatic and personal responses to the Great War, and showcasing the British Library’s collections in these areas.
The talks are accompanied by a small display of associated documents.
A tour of the BL exhibition Enduring War: Grief, Grit and Humour is included in the programme. There will be three tours at 9.30, 14.30 and 16.30. Each tour will accommodate up to 15 people. Spaces will be allocated on first come first served basis; please specify your preferred tour or ‘no tour’ at the time of booking.
