Flywhisk | Mughal India | Exhibitions in London | British Library

This is a magnificent jade and gem-set flywhisk handle or 'morchhal'. The inside is lined with silver and contains a metal spoke to which peacock feathers would have been attached. Objects such as this reflect the wealth of the imperial treasury.
