Writing Britain explores how the landscapes and places of Britain have inspired, and been redefined by, our great literary works.

Now we would like your help to curate a comprehensive literary map of the British and Irish Isles.

Is there a piece of writing that represents a place you know?

You can choose a literary work from any period and in any form (e.g. a novel, poem, song lyric or play) that relates to a specific location in Britain, Ireland or the Channel Isles.

Tell us a little about your chosen item and how it has captured the spirit of the place (e.g. what has changed, what remains the same) and what it means to you. You can add a photograph and a link for further information if you wish.

Our favourite contributions are displayed in the exhibition at the British Library.
