The British Library has an enormous collection of Sound Recordings including 240,000 vinyl LPs. Andy Linehan, our Curator of Popular Music, looks at the history of the album and digs into the archive to bring out a selection of LPs that reflect the styles and genres of music and the artwork that emerged in the vinyl era.
Despite the advent of digital recording these vinyl discs and their equally fascinating covers retain the power to inspire those in the creative industries, from artists to film makers, musicians and graphic designers.
"A wonderful way to get an insight into what’s available at the Library – and to hear some great stories and see some lovely vinyl" - Graphic Designer
This event is part of Spring Festival – The Library’s annual celebration of film, fashion and design
