Twitter in the 1890s – what would it look like? What events would people tweet about?

Join us for a fun day of social media storytelling, and enjoy an unprecedented opportunity to explore The British Newspaper Archive.

From Illustrated Police News, 1892

We are flinging open the doors to The British Newspaper Archive for the day, giving you access to over 200 digitised newspaper titles and six million searchable pages - a true treasure trove of information.

To help you explore this vast repository, and find the hidden gems within it, Crossover Labs will guide you in using today’s social media to uncover the past. Take inspiration from the archive to create characters, bring their stories to life and discover the worlds those people lived in.

Fun, informative and engaging, the day is ideal for filmmakers who are looking for inspiring stories for their next production and creatives interested in history, archives, social media or storytelling.

Participants should bring a personal laptop and a smartphone.

In partnership with Sheffield Doc/Fest and Crossover Labs. Supported by The British Newspaper Archive
