DCMS management agreement

The British Library's funding and management agreement with DCMS

The British Library is an arm's length body sponsored by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Most of our funding is received from DCMS as Grant in Aid.

As a public institution and recipient of Grant in Aid, we are responsible to taxpayers for our stewardship of public money and resources, and for ensuring that the funds allocated to us under the authority of Parliament are used for the purposes intend by Parliament. We follow the guidelines and principles set out in Managing Public Money.

Our Management Agreement with DCMS provides the context and framework for our activities and our Grant in Aid allocation, including the priorities of the Secretary of State for the British Library.
