Conditions of entry and use

These terms and conditions apply to the use of all physical sites operated by the British Library.

The British Library reserves the right to decline admission to our buildings or Piazza, or to ask a person to leave, where their behaviour is antisocial or could constitute a source of danger, nuisance, or annoyance, to themselves or to others.

When entering our buildings, Security staff may conduct bag searches and body scans. At times of heightened security this may include a body search. They may also carry out further searches on visitors leaving our exhibition galleries and Reading Rooms. Any person who is unwilling to be searched, may be refused access to our buildings or asked to leave.
