Key findings include:

  • Inflation has overtaken pay increases for the first time in five years, overall, salaries (plus bonus where applicable) fell 0.6 per cent in real terms.
  • The average salary for managers is now £34,526.
  • Bonuses for senior managers and directors have fallen 16 per cent in real terms.
  • Managers worked an extra 44 days, up from 40 days in 2015.
  • 59 per cent of managers frequently check email outside working hours.
  • 1 in 10 managers have taken sick leave due to stress.
