Harley 4664 f. 278v Illuminated initial
Illuminated initial
Description: Illuminated initial, and rubric at the top of the first column 'The Gospel reading [then a space] at Coldingham . . .' ('apud colingham'). The fact that he left a blank space suggests that the scribe was not sure what the correct Gospel reading was, for use at Coldingham, which suggests that he was working somewhere else, such as Durham. (The space in the second line of the rubric was filled in at a much later date.)
Origin: England
