Ownership inscription
Description: Inscription stating that John of Dalling, monk of the Benedictine abbey of St Albans, gave this book to the abbey with the permission of abbot John of Hertford, reading 'Hunc librum dedit Frater Johannes de Dal/ling ex licencia domini Joh[annis] abb[at]is deo / eccl[es]ie s[anc]ti Albani ita tamen quod habeat / usum t[antu]m in vita sua. Quem quid[em] qui ab / eadem ecc[lesie] alienaverit v[e]l titulum dele/verit anathema sit. Amen. / Anima Johannis de dalling et anime omnium fidelium defunctorum requiescant in pace. Amen/'; with a note that the book was kept in a cupboard in the choir, 'De armariolo in choro.'
