Additional 37473, ff. 1-2 f. 2 Pars ii., Causa xxviii
Pars ii., Causa xxviii
Description: Miniature illustrating Pars ii., Causa xxviii: an infidel, who has married, was converted to the faith; but his wife left him out of hatred for the Christian faith. He, in turn, took for himself a Christian wife. When she died, he became a cleric. Then owing to his conduct of life and his learning he was chosen as bishop. In the miniature the man is shown (from right to left) as a layman pointing towards his deceased second wife, a cleric, and a bishop, before a seated judge.
Origin: Italy, N. (Bologna? or Padua?)
