Decoration 1 full foliate bar border and large initial in colours and gold, with a quadruped (dragon) on the border and an unfinished drawing in the historiated initial of a seated man writing (f. 2v). 1 three-sided foliate border and initial in colours and gold, with arms in the initial (f. 1). Large initials in gold, pink, and/or blue, some also with red, with gold balls, and/or with foliate, floral, or filigree decoration (one with heraldic arms, f. 21). Line fillers in pink and/or blue.

Lord William Howard (b. 1563, d. 1640), antiquary and landowner, the younger son of Thomas Howard (b. 1538, d. 1572), 4th duke of Norfolk (inscription: ‘William Howard 1592'; ink drawing of a lion rampant, margin, f. 1.).
? Thomas Howard (b. 1585, d. 1646), 2nd earl of Arundel, 4th earl of Surrey, and 1st earl of Norfolk, art collector and politician.
Henry Howard (b. 1628, d. 1684), 6th duke of Norfolk, presented to the Royal Society in 1667.
