Moses Aqrish, scribe: inscribed with his name in the colophon, 1448 or 1498. (f. 429v). Date in the colophon has been partially erased and rewritten. Originally it may have been 5258, that is 1498 and not 5208, that is, 1448 (see, SfarData, the on-line database of dated Hebrew manuscripts).
Samuel ben .. : inscribed with his name in the colophon as a later correction (f. 429v).
Vatican: see comment in the sale catalogue of Bibliotheca Sussexiana (Bibliotheca Sussexiana. Catalogue of the very important, splendid and valuable Manuscripts of his Royal Highness the late Duke of Sussex, 1844-1846), according to which this manuscript 'has been taken out of the Vatican by Junot.'
The Reverand Theodore Williams of Hendon, c. 1824: his motto "Deus alit me" (God sustains me) above his armorial shield of a fess, 3 crescents, 3 birds, and a bird on top of the shield (upper cover), and the monogram 'TW'. and the motto (lower cover).
Prince Augustus Frederick (b. 1773, d. 1843), duke of Sussex: his armorial book-plate, inscribed (f. [451v]); his sale 31 July 1844, lot 102: inscribed (f. [449v]), purchased by the British Museum through Thomas Rodd the younger (b. 1796, d. 1849), bookseller for £34 10s. |
