Date 74 [1314] in an inscription written by the scribe (f. 167v). Includes a chart of the nineteen-year cycles starting from 1307 (f. 182). Tekufot (equinoxes and solstices) in the calendar for the period 1308-1335 (ff. 182v-183). A later addition to the calendar for the period 1352-1370 (f. 178v). Rabbi Moses ha-Levi: mentioned in an otherwise blurred inscription, 14th or 15th century (f. 178v). Illegible Hebrew inscriptions (f. 197v). Inscription: 'Mahzor for Ashkenazi Jews, manuscript on parchment in the year of 68 [1308] of the sixth millenium. Issur we-heter of Rabbi Isaac of Düren, order of tekufot, and Iggul of Rav Nahshon' (17th-18th century) (f. 1). Giuseppe Almanzi (b. 1801, d. 1860), bibliophile; his manuscript: inscribed (f. [198v]); his library including 322 medieval Hebrew manuscripts were purchased en bloc by the British Museum in October 1865 for £1,000 through Adolphus Asher (b. 1800, d. 1853), Berlin bookseller and dealer to the British Museum 1841-1853 (see David Paisey, 'Adolphus Asher (1800-1853): Berlin bookseller, anglophile and friend to Panizzi', in The British Library Journal, 23 [1997], 131-53). |
