Joannes Plantavitius de la Pause (Pausanus), bishop of Lodeve (b. 1625, d. 1648): he bought it in Rome on 24 November, 1620: inscription (f. 2). Jacques Nicolas Colbert (b. 1655, d. 1707), archbishop of Rouen: his coat of arms, remains of a previous binding (stamped on the inner back cover). Acquired by gift from the Inter-Allied Book Centre, April 1946. |

Watermark, f. [94], of a coat of arms: a crowned shield with a B in the middle and a motto (illegible) in a banderole beneath, similar to C. M. Briquet, Les Filigranes: Dictionnaire historique des marques du papier dès leur apparition vers 1282 jusqu'en 1600, A Facsimile of the 1907 edition with supplementary material, ed. by Allan Stevenson, 4 vols (Amsterdam: The Paper Publications Society, 1968), no. 8079 (dated 1580 to Troyes). Hair and flesh side are distinguishable. Pricking and ruling are visible. |
