Binding Post-1600. Gold-tooled red leather; gilt edges.
Provenance Coat of arms, quarterly, 1st and 4th lozengy, 2nd and 3rd semé de lis (f. 2), possibly copied from Turin, Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria, 1622, which was made for Jacques d'Armagnac, Duke of Nemours (b. 1433, d. 1477).
Post-medieval monogram 'NR' ('XR'?) (f. 2).
Joseph Zaehnsdorf (b. 1814, d. 1886), bookbinder: the manuscript was bound by him.
Henry White (b. 1812, d. 1880), historian, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries: his bookplate (f. 1) pasted on the inside of the upper board; his sale, Sotheby's London, 21 April 1902, lot 995; purchased by the British Museum for £39.
Notes Material from the cycle of Guiron le Courtois.
Running heads 'Premier livre' throughout the volume, and concluded by 'fin du primier livreure / De Guyron le courtois' (f. 216v).
