Official foliation ff. 29 ( + 3 unfoliated modern paper flyleaves at the beginning and end, and 1 parchment flyleaf at the beginning and 2 at the end)
Form Parchment codex
Binding Pre-1600. Brown leather with gold tooling; probably 4th quarter of the 16th century, and original.
Provenance Probably made for Arthur Gray (b. 1536, d. 1593), 14th baron Grey of Wilton, lord deputy of Ireland and soldier: his arms identified by Madden (f. 1), elected to the Order of the Garter in June 1572.
William Petty (formerly Fitzmaurice) (b. 1737, d. 1805), 2nd earl of Shelburne and 1st marquess of Lansdowne, prime minister; purchased by the British Museum together with 1244 other Lansdowne manuscripts in 1807.
