1 full-page miniature with a full border, in colours and gold (f. 134v). 4 large puzzle initials in red and blue with floral pen-flourishing in blue and red, developing full foliate borders, including a deer, a peacock, a dove, and a pelican, surrounded by a motto and drops(?) (ff. 10, 134v, 229, 293). Smaller puzzle initials in red and blue with floral pen-flourishing in blue and red, developing three-sided borders, 1 accompanied by a small cross, 1 by a ciborium, in colours, in the margins (ff. 115v, 316v). Smaller initials in blue, with reserved designs, with floral pen-flourishing in red and blue, some developing three-sided borders. Small initials in plain red or blue. |

Bought by the British Museum from Thomas Rodd the younger (b. 1796, d. 1849), London bookseller, 9th December 1848 (note on 2nd flyleaf), using the Farnborough Fund (£3,000 bequeathed in 1838 by Charles Long, Baron Farnborough (b. 1761, d. 1838), a cousin of Francis Henry Egerton, 8th Earl of Bridgewater (b. 1756, d. 1829), founder of the collection. |
